The Journey of a Silversmith.

Becoming a Silversmith
Becoming a silversmith is not something you learn overnight. It’s
a craft that combines patience with precision, and strength with
delicacy. Traditionally, silversmiths undergo formal training or
apprenticeships that span years. But for many modern artisans,
including my silversmith. The journey involves a mix of study,
experimentation, trial and error, and an enduring fascination with
metal and form.
Learning how silver behaves. How it bends,
melts, resists, and polishes. It is a language all its own. With
body jewelry, the stakes are higher. Not only does the piece have to
look beautiful, it must also fit comfortably, sit securely, and
respect the curves of the human body.
Tools of the Trade

The workshop of a silversmith isn’t filled with loud machines
or mass-production lines. Instead, you’ll find tools that have
hardly changed in centuries:
Torches to bring silver to a
molten state.
Hammers for forming and texturing.
Files
and polishing cloths to create a mirror-like shine.
Mandrels
and pliers to shape rings and curves with precision.
And above
all, steady hands, practiced, and endlessly adaptable.
Each
tool leaves its mark, and those marks, polished or intentionally
left visible, become part of the piece’s story.
The Skills that Shape Silver

Silversmithing involves a mix of metalworking disciplines:
Sawing and cutting raw sheets of
silver into starting forms.
Soldering, using heat to fuse
components seamlessly.
Forging, where hammering controls shape
and strength.
Filing and sanding, to remove imperfections.
Polishing, to make the silver shine like starlight
The Human Body is not Uniform
design above by artist Giacomo Bevanati
For custom body jewelry, attention to fit and proportion is
crucial. The human body is not uniform, so each piece must be made
with its wearer in mind. Especially when it comes to non-piercing
designs that rely on balance and subtle tension, not fasteners or
pins.
Why It Matters
In an age of fast
fashion and machine-made everything, handcrafted jewelry still holds
a kind of magic. You can feel the difference in the weight, in the
finish, and in the thoughtfulness of the design.
When you buy
a piece from an artisan, you're not just buying jewelry. You're
investing in a process, a story, and a person. You’re saying yes to
sustainable craftsmanship and no to disposable culture.
Every item I make
is handled with care from start to finish. Whether you’re looking
for something playful, sensual, bold, or discreet, your piece has
been designed to celebrate the body and the spirit of individuality
that comes with it.
Made for You
If you've ever worn handcrafted jewelry, you know the feeling. And if you haven’t yet I invite you to explore the difference for yourself. Behind every design on my site is the same commitment, to create body jewelry that’s unique, expressive, and made with the integrity of a true silversmith.
